Day 1. Airport  / Colombo

Arrival, welcome with Orchid Garlands by a representative of Kango Tours and transfer to Colombo.

Afternoon, undertake a city tour of Colombo

 

Overnight at Colombo or similar 

 

 

Day 2. Colombo – Pinnawala – Sigiriya  

After early breakfast leave for Sigiriya. En route visit visit the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawela, home to a large herd of elephants and view orphaned baby elephants found displaced in the jungles, being bottle fed their milk.

           

Pinnawela... the Elephant Orphanage located on the banks of the Maha Oya, established to give shelter to elephants who are displaced from their natural habitats due to various reasons. Such as, environmental changes due to development projects, being abandoned by their parents when they fall into pits and ravines, etc. It is most interesting to visit Pinnawela at feeding time when the baby elephants are bottle fed their milk, or at bath time when the whole herd walks down to the river for their baths.

Proceed to Sigiriya.

Afternoon climb Sigiriya, 5th-century rock fortress. Highlights of Sigiriya include frescoes, the Mirror Wall with graffiti and the Lion's Stairway.

Day 3. Sigiriya – Dambulla - Kandy

            After breakfast leave for Dambulla.

 

Leave for hill capital Kandy, en route visiting Dambulla Cave Temple.

 

En route, visit a Spice Garden and take part in a conducted tour to get some knowledge about the growth and use of spices in the day to day life

 

In a Batik Making Factory, see how beautifully the village girls turn out beautiful colored cloths for different purposes with colorful designs.

Proceed to Kandy 

Kandy ... The last capital of the Sri Lankan kings which is a world heritage site. The name Kandy conjures vision of splendour of magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still alive. Drive around the Kandy Lake built by the last king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1806; visit the Kandy town bazaar, the arts and the crafts centre and a gem museum and lapidary.

 

In the evening visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and thereafter witness a traditional cultural dance show.

Day 4. Kandy – Peradeniya - Kandy

After breakfast leave for the Royal Botanical Gardens consisting of 147 acres of landscaped gardens surrounded by the Mahaweli River. The Botanical Gardens have more than 5000 species of plants including rare collections of orchids, spices and medicinal herbs.

Thereafter visit, gems with gem museum – gem mine, art & craft center & kandy market if time permits.

 

Overnight at Kandy or similar .

 

 

Day 5. Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

After the breakfast, leave for Nuwara Eliya "Little England" through the Ramboda Pass surrounded by "Green Carpets"- hills covered with Tea and cascading Water Falls amidst breathtakingly beautiful landscapes.

 

En route visit a Tea Factory and a Plantation to witness the manufacturing process of world famous "Ceylon Tea" and to taste a pure unblended cup of factory fresh tea before being sent to the Tea Auctions in Colombo leading to Export.

 

Evening is free for walks /tour around the city - the important places being the Victoria Park, Gregory Lake, Golf Course, and Market etc.

 

Overnight at Nuwara Eliya or similar .

 

 

Day 6. Nuwara Eliya - Colombo

After the breakfast, leave for Colombo. En route visit places of interests including waterfalls.

 

Proceed to Colombo & in the afternoon, shopping in Colombo.

Day 7. Colombo - Airport

Transfer to the airport for Departure.
